2015 SCBA-TORONTO CHAPTER CONFERENCE
 
“Mechanisms and Therapy of Acute Lung Injury”

SCBA Toronto Chapter Best Paper Award Competition Announcement (Year of 2015)
 
2014 Best Paper Award/s, sponsored by Professor Choong-Chin Liew (The Founding president of SCBA Toronto Chapter), will be given to trainee/s in the SCBA community to recognize their excellent work in bio-medical research. 
 
One or more awards will be presented in SCBA Toronto Chapter annual meeting (Feb. 6, 2015) for the first author publication in 2014. 
 
Eligibility of applicants: 
 
  1. First author of a scientific paper (original research) published in a peer reviewed journal in 2014, or officially accepted by December 31, 2014. 
  2. Graduate or undergraduate students, or post-doctoral fellows earned his/her last doctoral degree in 2009 or after. 
  3. The applicant or his/her supervisor is a SCBA member (To apply for membership, please check the website: http://www.scbatoronto.org). Trainee can apply for one year trainee membership in the amount of $ 35.00.  
 
Instruction for submission: 
 
  1. The applicant or the supervisor should prepare 2 documents:
    • A copy of the publication (in PDF format). If paper is in press, the proof of acceptance should be attached.
    • A summary in lay language (250 words maximum) to describe the nature of the study, significance of the findings, and the contribution made by the applicant. The summary can be composed by the supervisor. 
  2. The submission should be made by email attachment to Dr. Xiao-Yan Wen (xywen2014@gmail.com). The deadline is 8 pm, Jan 6, 2015.

 

SCBA Toronto Chapter Award Committee will review each application and inform the winners by email by Jan 31. The award includes a certificate and cash prize. In addition, the winners will be invited to attend SCBA Toronto Chapter New Year Dinner party (Feb. 6, 2015). 

 
SCBA Toronto Chapter Poster Award Competition Announcement (Year of 2015)
 
The SCBA Toronto Chapter will host a poster session on Feb. 6, 2015 during the annual symposium. Posters in all biomedical fields will be acceptable for poster presentations.
 
Eligibility: Each poster should be sponsored by a SCBA member (Life-member or regular member paid 2014 due) or a student member, who is an author of the poster. 
 
Poster presentation Award: Poster presentation by the trainees (first author) will be evaluated, and the poster presentation awards will be given to the top presenters following evaluation by the poster judges. 
 
Submission: To attend the poster competition, e-mailed submission is required, including the poster title, authors, their affiliation and an abstract of the research. 
Please mark “*” if the first author (presenting author) is a trainee (undergraduate and graduate students, and PDF), and “_” underline the SCBA member. 
 
Submission deadline: Please email your submission to Dr. Hong-Shuo Sun (hss.sun@utoronto.ca) by Friday, January 17, 2014. Please remark the subject "SCBA poster submission".
